Charles S. Venuto, PharmD, is a clinical pharmacologist specializing in modeling and simulating the exposure and response of drugs in humans. He received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University at Buffalo and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Experimental Therapeutics within the University of Rochester’s Department of Neurology and Center for Human Experimental Therapeutics. His research focuses on the development of mathematical models to describe the time course and progression of neurodegenerative diseases and drug effects in order to design more informative clinical trials and enhance the analysis of longitudinal clinical trial data. The modeling approaches used are based on his previous work in population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in which patient-specific demographics and therapeutic features were used to explain variability in drug exposure-response relationships. Dr. Venuto’s collaborations include The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, and the CHDI Foundation, to apply clinical pharmacology modeling and simulation tools towards the improvement of therapeutic drug development.
