A Tale from a Spectator:
This past Sunday, 151 Team Fox members took to the streets of the Big Apple to conquer 26.2 miles and 25 mph winds during one of the world’s most iconic marathons: the TCS New York City Marathon. There was excitement in the air as early as 5 am on Sunday as Team Fox runners boarded buses to travel to the start line in Staten Island. As runners spoke of their race jitters, met fellow team members, received pep talks and spoke words of encouragement to one another, it began to sink in—race day was finally here!
Just a few hours later, the streets were filled with spectators and Team Fox friends, family and Foundation staff filled the Team Fox cheering stations along the course with signs, cowbells and as much enthusiasm as the Saturday Night Live Spartan Cheerleaders. As Team Fox singlets came into view along the course, the crowd would erupt in cheers and the clang of cowbells would quicken. Each Team Fox runner passed with a smile on their face and a determined step in their stride as they high-fived the crowd like the rock stars that they are. It was truly inspiring to see each Team Fox member pass for while it takes time, dedication and patience to train for a marathon, it takes heart, commitment and heroism to run for a cause.
Congratulations to the 2014 Team Fox NYC Marathon team for not only conquering 26.2 miles, but for helping to raise vital funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research. To date, this team has raised almost $565,000 for Parkinson’s research—simply incredible! And, with 100% of Team Fox proceeds going directly to research, this team’s miles will have maximum impact on MJFF’s search for a cure.
Together we can, and we will, outrun Parkinson’s. #GoTeamFox
