On Saturday, November 23rd, Hermann Hall in Dallas, Texas was a festive sight to be seen. As the historic Texas dance hall filled with the foot-stomping melodies of local Western Swing band Shoot Low Sheriff, over 150 guests shined their cowboy boots for a Wild Western evening of square dancing in support of Team Fox.
“You can see by the smiles on all of our faces that we had a great time; it was just crazy, if not hysterical, fun!” notes Team Fox member and event organizer Pam Wood. “A square dance may be a weird way to [fundraise], but it brought people together in a way no one will soon forget and it was a fun theme with lots of room for low budget creativity.”
Furthermore, the event was a huge success, raising $46,720 in support of Team Fox! In addition to ticket sales, the event also brought in revenue through a 60-item silent auction and a live auction featuring an 18-person private suite at an upcoming Dallas Mavericks game.
“Hosting a Team Fox event has been the most rewarding experience of my life so far,” says Wood, who has been living with Young Onset Parkinson’s since 2012. “Thank you Dallas, we did it Texas style—BIG fun!”
