If you or a loved one lives with Parkinson’s disease (PD), you don’t have to go it alone. You can connect with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research for expert resources, education and support – both online and in communities across the United States.
Our unique free events for people living with Parkinson’s and their families and friends are coming to a location near you. MJFF’s 2024 Parkinson’s IQ + You series is open to everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
“I learned a lot and am so happy that I attended. Since I went, I signed up for boxing, an exercise group and wrote a list of questions for my doctor. The event was very helpful!”
Lisa Kartiganer, PDIQ + You Seattle attendee
Taking place in five U.S. cities throughout 2024, Parkinson’s IQ + You provides educational content designed to empower people with Parkinson’s, care partners and supporters. The program focuses on three areas of value for the PD community:
- Building a comprehensive care team and treatment plan
- Exploring the latest in research
- Turning education into action and forging community connections – both through local resources and by meeting others who are navigating PD
These interactive sessions about living with Parkinson’s will provide information on how to make the most of doctor visits, build a comprehensive care team and give updates about the latest research – including why participating in research is invaluable and something you can do. Sessions are led by movement disorder specialists, biomedical researchers, people living with Parkinson's and their care partners, and allied health professionals.
“You know that PD is filled with ‘hard times,’ so providing us with a place and time to learn, to smile, to laugh, to acknowledge pain and loss, and best of all, just to be – that is a wonderful gift. I am so glad to have been a little part of that.”
Brian Hyde, PDIQ + You Denver panelist
Now in its fourth year, the Parkinson’s IQ + You series has received positive feedback from attendees, with many guests encouraging others to participate in future sessions.
“I found it helpful to be among a group of people whose experience with Parkinson's was so diverse. It was a conference AND support group.”
Shayna Bowman, PDIQ + You Columbus attendee
Each event features a Partner Expo, where people can learn more about treatment options and make connections with the Parkinson's community. The Expo includes information on resources, such as exercise programs, support groups, care options, research opportunities and more.
“This was a fantastic event! I am an exercise specialist, I work with the 50+ population for personal training and group fitness, and I run a Rock Steady Boxing Program for Parkinson's Disease (Lima, OH). This was a great networking opportunity for me as well as a great way for me to learn information and bring it back to my boxers. Thank you!”
Molly Smith, PDIQ + You Mid-Atlantic attendee
