Update: The NeuroWriters' Guide to the Peripatetic Pursuit of Parkinson's Disease in PDF format is now available for free download on the MJFF website.
A resource for Parkinson’s patients at any stage of the disease, for caregivers and for clinicians, The NeuroWriters' Guide to the Peripatetic Pursuit of Parkinson's Disease is “a support group between two covers,” as the authors call it.
The writers, the Parkinson's Creative Collective, came together in 2008 from the NeuroTalk online forum to create something that would expand their advocacy and extend their knowledge of the Parkinson’s experience with a wider audience. The publication’s eight chapters cover Parkinson’s disease (PD) basics, “the difficult bits,” and activism and advocacy.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation contributed sections on the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative — the landmark study to identify Parkinson’s biomarkers: “a critical missing link for understanding PD” — and Fox Trial Finder, the online matching tool that helps interested research volunteers find studies. Members of the MJFF patient community also have bylines in the book.
