Michael J. Fox and Debi Brooks sat down with “ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer for the Yahoo! News and ABC News “Newsmakers” series to talk about the work of The Michael J. Fox Foundation and our focus on clinical trial participation. Other topics included Michael’s acting career, living with PD, fatherhood and his personal “anthems and the state of stem cell research. Topics discussed were submitted by Yahoo! viewers.
Michael and Debi shared some of the stats on clinical trial participation that still continue to shock us, such as 85% of clinical trials are slow finish trials because of recruitment challenges, with Diane. Together, Michael and Debi went on to explain that with the launch of Fox Trial Finder, there is now and easy and effective way to get involved in clinical trial research and now is the time to do so. They also explained to Diane the importance of finding a biomarker for Parkinson’s disease and the MJFF’s PPMI (Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative) study, which is currently recruiting on Fox Trial Finder, will help us find that answer.
