'We are the answer we're looking for': Michael J. Fox Talks Clinical Trials and His Return to TV on 'Good Morning America'

Today, Michael J. Fox appeared on "Good Morning America" to discuss his new guest arc on ABC's "Designated Survivor" and the recent work of The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) to connect more members of the Parkinson's community to clinical trials.

In his one-on-one chat with Foundation Board member George Stephanopoulos, Michael discussed how he feels returning to television and playing a darker character who is "not above taking people down a few notches." Michael also chatted about his 30-year acting reunion with Kiefer Sutherland, who was his co-star on "Bright Lights, Big City" in 1988. Check out a fun flashback photo with the pair on Michael's Instagram.

In closing the interview, George asked Michael about MJFF's recent work on clinical trial recruitment through Fox Trial Finder (foxtrialfinder.org). Michael shared what he tells people living with Parkinson's about the importance of getting involved:

"That's the key. I always drive the point home: We are the answer we're looking for. We have the answers within us somewhere. We need to find a way to identify the disease before symptoms ever exist. People say 'Is there a cure?' There's not a cure, we have a lot of questions to answer before then, but we're answering them."
