Who's That Intern? Four Questions for Thea Glassman

Who's That Intern? Four Questions for Thea Glassman

Every summer, The Michael J. Fox Foundation works with interns who lend their skills to our mission to cure Parkinson's, and benefit from the chance to witness day-to-day operations at a fast-paced nonprofit. To get to know more about them and what they do here throughout the summer, this summer we are blogging Q&As with each of the interns.

Thea Glassman is native of New York City and a rising senior at University of Kansas majoring in English and Creative Writing.

MJFF: What department do you work in?

Thea Glassman: I work in the Marketing and Communications department which is the leg of the organization that helps spread the foundation’s message through different forms of media.

MJFF: What is a typical day for you in the office?

TG: I've been working on two specific projects lately; a clip book of important media coverage of the Michael J. Fox Foundation and a new communications strategy for compiling MJFF news to share internally. On other days I'm helping process invoices and contributing to blog and web content.

MJFF: What are you taking away from the foundation?

TG: I've learned so much about the inner workings of a non-profit organization and how many different departments are working so hard, separately and together, to accomplish the same goal. I think I'm coming away from this experience with better time management and organizational skills along with a sharpened ability to write and edit.

MJFF: One random fact about yourself?

TG: I'm pretty accomplished in Harry Potter trivia.
