Arianna Bellucci obtained her MSc in biological sciences and PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Florence, Italy in 2005. After moving to the University of Brescia in Italy to conduct postdoctoral studies on the impact of pathological alpha-synuclein deposition on the connections formed by dopamine-producing neurons, she accepted a position there as a researcher and adjunct professor of pharmacology, establishing a research group focused on the study of the role of alpha-synuclein in the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease. Since 2018, she is an associate professor of pharmacology in the Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine of the University of Brescia. Professor Bellucci’s main research interest involves studying neuronal connections and their dysfunction in experimental models of neurological disorders to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop disease-modifying treatments.
