Artur Francisco Schumacher Schuh, MD, PhD

Dr. Artur Schuh is an assistant professor at Brazil's Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, where he studies neurodegenerative and neurogenetic disorders. Since 2012, he has been the co-director of the Movement Disorders Clinics at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, gaining extensive clinical experience in Parkinson's disease (PD). Dr. Schuh completed a PhD focused on PD pharmacogenetics, and he expanded his expertise in genomics and bioinformatics tools at the University of Washington in 2017. Dr. Schuh is a member of the Latin American Research Consortium on the Genetics of PD (LARGE-PD) and has published more than 90 papers (H-index of 20). Currently, he leads the underrepresented populations working group in the Global Parkinson's Disease Genetics Program (GP2). His research focuses on genetic associations, biomarkers and the epidemiology and risk factors of PD, with a goal of improving diagnosis and treatment for underrepresented populations, particularly in Brazil.
