Dr. Aymelt Itzen studied biochemistry at the University Hannover (Germany). He subsequently performed his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Roger Goody. In 2011, he was appointed assistant professor of proteinchemistry at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). Dr. Itzen studies the molecular mechanisms of intracellular communication and the biological chemistry of diseases and bacterial infections. Together with Miratul Muqit from the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit in Dundee, he is interested in the understanding of protein modifications as a molecular basis of Parkinson’s disease.
