Carlos R. M. Rieder graduated in medicine at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (1986), conducted his medical residency in neurology at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (1987-1990); obtained a master's degree in medicine (Medical Sciences) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994) and a doctorate in clinical neuroscience at the University of Birmingham (UK, 2000). He is currently an assistant professor of neurology at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA). He is a member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society, where he held the positions in the Pan American Section Executive Committee, MDS Web Site Editorial Board and PAS Education Committee. He is a CNPq productivity scholar (Id), a member of the Advisory Committee of FAPERGS and president-elect of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology (2020-present).
