Chi Wang Ip obtained his medical degree in 2002 and began his neurology residency at the University Hospital of Wuerzburg, where he simultaneously initiated studies investigating the immune system's impact on hereditary neuropathies. Transitioning this research from peripheral to central nervous system, he explored inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. His residency fueled a passion for movement disorders, leading to a focus on Parkinson's disease and dystonia. His research now centers on these disorders, including the development of preclinical models and the effect of immuno-modulation on neurodegeneration in these models. Additionally, he conducts clinical studies translating research into therapeutic strategies. Since 2021, he has been deputy chair of the department of neurology and since 2013, he has overseen the translational neurology laboratory at the University Hospital of Wuerzburg.
