Concepción García completed her degree in biological sciences (neuroscience) in 1996 at the University of Seville, Spain. She received her PhD in 2004 at Complutense University in Madrid, Spain, with a doctoral thesis developed in the department of comparative neuroanatomy of the Cajal Institute-CSIC in Madrid, under the supervision of Drs. Laura López-Mascaraque and Facundo Valverde García. In 2007, she joined the laboratory of Javier Fernández-Ruiz at the Complutense University, as a post-doctoral researcher, in which she is investigating the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids for Parkinson's disease. She is also a member of the “Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Neuroquímica,” as well as of the CIBERNED and IRYCIS. She is currently a professor of neurochemistry in the degree of medicine. She is member of the Spanish Society for Research on Cannabinoids (SEIC), of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS), and of the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC).
