Douglas G. Manuel, MD, MSc, is a physician-scientist with a master's degree in epidemiology who specializes in public health and preventive medicine. His research interests include population health, health care systems and primary care. Researchers at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) are international leaders in developing clinical risk prediction tools. Dr. Manuel and his team build on this OHRI strength by creating risk prediction tools that can be used in the clinical setting, among others. These population risk prediction tools would then be used to assess how strategies and interventions for improving health impact the health of population. In his research, Dr. Manuel analyzes data that link population risks with health care delivery.
