Douglas A. Gray, PhD, is a molecular biologist with an interest in the role of protein homeostasis in aging and diseases of aging. He received doctoral training at Western University in London, Ontario, and postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Gray was recruited to the University of Ottawa in 1989, where he established a research program utilizing cell and transgenic models to explore protein degradation pathways in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. He has previously held the University of Ottawa Joan Sealy Chair in Lung Cancer Research and was professor of aging science at Newcastle University from 2010 to 2012. He is currently a professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa and a senior scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
