Franz Ho, PhD, studied biochemistry and received his PhD degree in biochemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2006 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, working on the biochemistry of GTP-binding proteins in Prof. Wittinghofer’s group. In 2010 he moved to Finland and worked on G proteins in neurodegenerative diseases. Since 2012 he has been a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Groningen, focusing on biochemistry and molecular biology of membrane protein expression.
Dr. Ho’s research aim is to elucidate the molecular mechanism of cell signaling. The proper functioning of cells is highly dependent on a coordinated signaling network inside cells. A lot of diseases are related to aberration of cell signaling, therefore understanding the molecular basis of signaling is important to reveal the pathology of diseases and the science of life.
