Dr. Gemma Moya-Galé is assistant professor in the department of communication sciences and disorders at Teachers College Columbia University where she also completed her PhD. Her clinical research is dedicated to improving conversational intelligibility in individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD), cerebral palsy and other disorders. Her current work aims to foster self-sufficiency in individuals with PD by developing clinical tools that increase their ability to self-monitor and improve their intelligibility in everyday life. This is particularly important as the motor speech disorder associated with PD frequently leads to social isolation, significantly reducing quality of life. Dr. Moya-Galé is the founder of Speech for PD, a clinical, online and inclusive program that targets intelligibility and social participation in PD. Additionally, she has authored and co-authored in leading journals, such as the Journal of Medical Internet Research, Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research and The Lancet's EClinical Medicine.
