Georgios Pampalakis has studied chemistry and obtained an MSc (2002) and a PhD (2005) from the University of Patras, Greece. As a postdoctoral fellow in the department of pharmacy, University of Toronto, Canada (2007 to 2009), he worked on developing electrochemical biosensors for the analysis of DNA, RNA and proteins. From 2009 to 2018, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of pharmacy, University of Patras, where he investigated the role of KLK5 and KLK6 in skin diseases. Since 2018, he has been an assistant professor in the department of pharmacy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research aims to shed light on the role of KLK6 in Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. He is also interested in the synthesis of new organophosphate activity-based probes for serine proteases. He is an author of 67 publications and has two patents.
