Kallol Gupta, PhD

Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine

Location: New Haven, CT United States

Kallol Gupta is an assistant professor in cell biology. His graduate school research elucidated how deep-sea marine cone snails diversify their molecular toxin libraries to immobilize their prey by targeting key ion channels and receptors present in the central nervous system. In his postdoctoral training, Dr. Gupta developed novel analytical approaches for discovery key interactions between lipids and membrane proteins in the cellular membrane. His lab developed nanoscale platforms that aim to render a quantitative molecular view of macromolecular organization of proteins and lipids on cell membranes. His lab employs these technologies to understand how specific genes associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD) get recruited to the membranes of cell structures called organelles, how they regulate organelle homeostasis and how specific PD states impair this function.
