Lasse Pihlstrøm is a clinical neurologist, research group leader and section head in the Department of Neurology, Oslo University Hospital, Norway. He completed his PhD on the genetics of Parkinson’s disease in 2015. His research group studies neurodegeneration and movement disorders, primarily using genomic approaches to elucidate disease mechanisms, with the ultimate aim to pave way for precision medicine and improve patient care. He is currently also heading the clinical team for Huntington's disease and neurogenetics in his department. Dr. Pihlstrøm is an active member of several international consortia, including the International Parkinson's Disease Genomics Consortium, and has been a visiting researcher at Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London, UK and Laboratory of Neurogenetics, National Institutes of Health, USA. He also has an interest in communicating research to the broader public, giving regular talks and writing a science column for a Norwegian weekly newspaper.
