Lir-Wan Fan, PhD, received her PhD from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2002. Her research focuses on neonatal brain damages, such as white matter injury associated with perinatal brain inflammation and hypoxia-ischemia, as well as disorders of aging processes including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. She has published 60 original research papers. One of Dr. Fan’s current research interests is the investigation of the link between perinatal brain inflammation and late onset of neurodegenerative diseases.
