Martin Bachmann, PhD, has a PhD and a Master’s degree with honors from the Eigenössichen Technischen Hochschule Zürich (ETH) in Switzerland, both completed with distinctions. His PhD and his master thesis were honored with ETH Silver Medals in 1995 and 1991, respectively. Martin carried out his PhD research in the lab of the Nobel Laureate Prof. Rolf Zinkernagel and continued with post-doctoral work at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto in the lab of Prof. Pam Ohashi. He then became a member of the Basel Institute for Immunology. From 2002-2012, he was chief scientific officer at Cytos Biotechnology Ag, where he built up a research group of up to 50 people. In 2012, he returned to academia and is currently appointed as professor of immunology at the University of Oxford. Dr. Bachmann has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, his publication h-index is 80, and he is inventor on more than 40 filed or granted patents. He has brought seven compounds from the pre-clinical models to human application.
