Matthew Read graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a Honours Degree in Biological Sciences. Matthew embarked upon a career in clinical research starting with Novartis Pharmaceuticals in a data review group working on a range of CNS disorder studies. In 1994 Matthew moved to a Clinical Contract Research Organization, and managed international commercial clinical trials across Phases II-IV in Alzheimers Disease, Anti Viral agents, Cardiovascular disease, Gastrointestinal disorders and Major Psychiatric diseases. Matthew completed a temporary research post at Scherer Drug Delivery Systems where he designed and managed proof of concept studies using Apomorphine in a sublingual absorption formulation in the management of motor symptoms in Parkinson’s Disease. In 1999 Matthew commenced working in GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) newly formed Clinical Genetics Research Department where he was responsible for the design and set-up of several international familial clinical genetic studies. Matthew sat on the UK’s Institute of Clinical Research Genetics Special Interest Group for 3 years where he was voted in as Chairman for two consecutive years. Matthew went onto set-up Prn, a clinical consultancy that offered specialized services in the clinical genetics arena. Prn have now managed in excess of 25 clinical genetic studies since 2004, the first of these being the GSK Parkinson’s disease study based in Tunis, Tunisia. Prn is an established Contract Research Organisation that manage and conduct Phase I-IV studies in both un-marketed and marketed compounds, post marketing surveillance and genetic based studies, throughout Europe and the US. Matthew is the managing director of Prn and oversees all department activities within the company.
