Michael Keiser received a BSc in computer science from Stanford University in 2004, along with a BA in Slavic languages & literature, and an MA in Russian, eastern European and Eurasian studies. He completed his bioinformatics PhD as a National Science Foundation Fellow in Brian Shoichet’s laboratory at University of California San Francisco, where he developed techniques to relate proteins based on the statistical similarity of their ligands. This research has since expanded to investigating drug polypharmacology and the prediction of drug off-target activities. Mike is a QB3 Rogers Family Foundation Bridging the Gap award recipient and was featured in Wired Science Top 10 Scientific Breakthroughs of 2009, “Computer program predicts drug side effects.” A founder of SeaChange Pharmaceuticals, Mike’s research interests focus on investigating pharmacological networks from a chemical viewpoint.
