Nico Verbeeck obtained a Master in Engineering specialized in nanotechnology and a Master in Artificial Intelligence at the KU Leuven University in Belgium. He obtained his PhD in 2014 at KU Leuven, focusing on the application of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods for imaging mass spectrometry data analysis in a biomedical context. From 2015 to 2017, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Netherlands at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the lab of Prof. Raf Van de Plas. In 2018, he co-founded Aspect Analytics NV, a spin-off company of the KU Leuven, that provides scalable, cloud-based software solutions for the data analysis of spatial omics technologies, such as mass spectrometry imaging. Today, he serves as the chief operating officer of Aspect Analytics.
