Nicolas Dzamko, PhD, is a senior research fellow at the University of Sydney. His research group is focused on understanding the fundamental causes of Parkinson's disease, as well as identifying Parkinson's disease biomarkers and potential disease-modifying therapies. He is currently studying proteins genetically implicated in Parkinson's disease (e.g., LRRK2, GBA, alpha-synuclein), and has a strong interest in the role of these proteins in inflammation, autophagy, mitochondrial function, and protein trafficking. Dr. Dzamko earned his doctorate from the University of Melbourne. He completed post-doctoral fellowships under the supervision of Dario Alessi, PhD, at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit in Scotland and Glenda Halliday, PhD, at the University of New South Wales.
