Dr. Oren Levy, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist who studies neuroprotective targets and candidates for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD). He is also a fellowship-trained movement disorder specialist who treats individuals with PD. His lab uses a variety of molecular and cellular techniques to study signaling pathways that control cell survival. A major focus of his work has been understanding the role of a central cellular coping mechanism, called the integrated stress response, in models of PD. This research has led to the identification of potential targets, including drugs, which may promote brain cell survival. Current studies will test these candidates in several models of PD.
