Paola Devoto, PhD, graduated from the University of Cagliari in 1977 and obtained a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Milan in 1982. In 2001 she obtained a permanent position as assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Division of Neurosciences and Clinical Pharmacology at University of Cagliari (Italy). There she leads her own research group on two main themes: 1) regulation and interaction of catecholamines in the prefrontal cortex; 2) influence of neurosteroids on gating deficit and movement disorders.
Dr. Devoto has published more than 50 scientific articles in international journals. Current funding includes grants from Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, Fondazione Banco di Sardegna and Tourette Syndrome Association (USA). Since 2009 Dr. Devoto has been vice-director of the Interdepartmental Center for the Study of Tourette Syndrome at the University of Cagliari.
