Pascal Derkinderen earned his MD in neurology and PhD in molecular and cellular neuropharmacology from Paris 6 University in 1997 and 1999, respectively. As a postdoctoral fellow in Brian Anderton’s laboratory at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, he studied the regulation of the tyrosine phosphorylation of the microtubule associated protein tau and identified a new tau kinase. He is currently professor of neurology at Nantes University, France, and leading in Michel Neunlist’s lab (at Inserm U913) a small research team devoted to the study of the enteric nervous system in Parkinson’s disease.
