Dr. Paulo Henrique Silva Pelicioni is a research fellow at the School of Physiotherapy / Centre for Health, Activity and Rehabilitation Research and Collaboration of Ageing Research Excellence at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He graduated as a physiotherapist and receved a MSc degree (in human movement sciences) from São Paulo State University (Brazil) and a PhD (in public health and community medicine) from the University of New South Wales (Australia). Dr. Pelicioni conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of physiotherapy, neuroscience and public health, focused on preventing falls in people with neurological disorders. His fields of expertise and current areas of interest include: understanding the mechanisms of falls in older people and people with Parkinson’s disease; developing and optimizing clinical tools for neurological assessments and neurorehabilitation; investigating the effects of non-pharmacological interventions on mobility and falls prevention; indigenous health; understanding the function of healthy and pathological brains.
