Philippe Verwaerde, PhD, is President and CEO of Alzprotect, an innovative company in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. Verwaerde previously worked in the field of pharmacology within pharmaceutical and biotech companies. His international career took him from France to the United States, Italy, Belgium, and Sweden leading research teams as laboratory manager and department director before becoming an entrepreneur. He led several research and clinical development projects of innovative medicines in the areas of metabolic diseases, cancer and neurosciences. Verwaerde co-founded Vivactis AB (Belgium) and iNovacia AB (Sweden) – a service company in the field of pharmaceutical discovery and development. His business development experience includes in and out licensing of candidate drugs and preclinical service sales.
