Dr. Sarah Duff Canning is a clinician-researcher in the Neuropsychology Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital and a staff scientist in the Division of Neurology at UHN. She has expertise in cognitive function in Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. As a clinician, she conducts pre- and post-operative neuropsychological assessments for movement disorder patients undergoing deep brain stimulation (DBS) for treatment of their symptoms. She also conducts diagnostic assessments for neurodegenerative disorders including PD dementia (PDD), Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Her research interests include cognitive and behavioural outcomes following DBS for treatment of PD, and the evolution and diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment and dementia in PD.
