Steve Zhang is currently Team Leader, Therapeutic Gene Regulation at Sangamo BioSciences Inc. He has a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Washington University, and has worked in the field of gene regulation for more than 10 years. Dr. Zhang's early research on transcriptional regulation in the context of cell cycle control has helped to elucidate the mechanism of the hallmark tumor suppressor protein, the retinoblastoma protein. Since joining Sangamo BioSciences in 2000, he has been focusing on developing novel therapeutics based on engineered transcription factors that regulate the expression of disease-related genes.
