Prof. Wassilios Meissner is a clinical neurologist and basic neuroscientist specializing in movement disorders. He is head of the department of neurology for neurodegenerative diseases at the University Hospital Bordeaux, co-chair of the French Reference Center for Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) and deputy director of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University Bordeaux. He has served on several MDS Committees since 2013, including a leadership role as chair of the International Education Committee between 2017-2019, and is the current MDS Treasurer-Elect. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in movement disorders, mainly dealing with PD and MSA, and has given more than 125 invited lectures in more than 25 countries. His current research focuses on the biological and clinical markers of disease progression in PD and MSA and the development of new preclinical models and treatments for these disorders. Prof. Meissner currently chairs the MDS UMSARS Revision Task Force.
