Xiang Wang, PhD

Associate Director at NICO Therapeutics

Location: South San Franciscoo, CA United States

Xiang Wang, PhD, has more than a decade of experience in lysosome biology and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease (PD). She has strong expertise in advancing preclinical programs and addressing biology and biomarker needs for clinical development. As associate director of biology at NICO Therapeutics, Dr. Wang leads multiple preclinical development programs, focusing on target biology, therapeutic strategies and biomarker discovery for clinical applications. Previously, at Denali Therapeutics, she contributed to several PD programs, including advancing LRRK2 research. Her work focused on elucidating LRRK2’s role in the function of lysosomes—part of the cell’s waste management system—and developing biomarkers to support the program’s progression from research to clinical stages. Dr. Wang obtained her PhD from the University of Michigan, where she studied lysosomal ion channels and their cellular functions, and she completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University, where she focused on neural circuitry research.
