Dr. Zhenyu Yue is the Alex and Shirley Aidekman Professor, director of the Center for Parkinson’s Disease Neurobiology and director of Basic and Translational Research of Movement Disorders at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He received his PhD from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers and was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute postdoctoral fellow at The Rockefeller University. Dr. Yue investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms for neurodegenerative diseases, including proteinopathies, and his group has identified biomarkers and therapeutic targets and developed preclinical models for neurological diseases. Dr. Yue is a pioneering investigator of autophagy in neurons and microglia, and he employs multi-disciplinary approaches to study autophagy-lysosomal functions and synaptic vesicle cycling. Dr. Yue has contributed more than 150 publications, including original research articles, reviews and commentaries, with an h-index of 69 (curated Google Scholar).
