Cheney Drew’s current work as a research fellow and senior clinical trials manager is focused on the development, design and conduct of clinical trials, specifically within the theme of ‘Mind, Brain and Neuroscience’. She is interested in the design and evaluation of novel therapies for neurological disorders, particularly Huntington’s Disease and epilepsy, but also in other neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. This includes novel methods for efficient evaluation for both traditional pharmaceutical and novel therapeutic approaches, with particular reference to advanced therapies. Given the complex and experimental nature of advanced therapies, she is particularly interested in how participants are approached, informed and provide consent for involvement in these trials. This includes listening to the participant voice as a central tenet of trial design. In addition to co-leading the LEARN study, she is involved in delivering the TRIDENT cell transplantation trial and facilitates the inclusion of public and patient representatives in research.
