Christopher Miles Morris, BSc(Hons), PhD

Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne United Kingdom

Chris Morris is senior lecturer at Newcastle University where he is scientific director of the Newcastle Brain Tissue Resource, one of the UK’s leading tissue banks for neurodegenerative disorders. He has an extensive track record in neurodegenerative disorders and has been authored or coauthored more than 200 peer reviewed publications. His research is aimed at identifying the biology involved with the clinical symptoms and potential treatment targets found in dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson’s disease. Using postmortem brain tissue, Dr. Morris and his lab assess whether pathology or changes in neurons or nonneuronal brain cells underpin symptoms such as visual hallucinations, depression and anxiety. The molecular methods they use include RNA sequencing and protein and genetic analysis to build an understanding of the different disorders and to identify specific treatments and biomarkers. He has more than 20 years of experience with the issues around target and biomarker identification and use.
