Riona McArdle is a National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Advanced Fellow, with a background in applied neuropsychology. Her research program aims to improve diagnosis and care of people with neurodegenerative conditions through novel applications of mobility research. Her studies include the identification of digital mobility outcomes to support differential dementia diagnosis, as cited in the prodromal Lewy body dementia research criteria. Her research fellowship aims to identify socio-ecological predictors of mobility loss in neurodegenerative conditions. She collaborates with the Early Detection of Neurodegeneration Initiative to develop a digital toolkit for dementia diagnosis with people affected by dementia, including those in underserved groups, and to mitigate digital exclusion when implementing digital healthcare solutions.
