Dr. Daniel C. Alexander is professor of imaging science and director of research at the UCL's Department of Computer Science, chair of the board of directors of the Centre for Medical Image Computing and leader of the Microstructure Imaging Group (17 researchers) and Progression of Neurodegenerative Disease group (seven researchers). Dr. Alexander's background is in mathematics and computer science with core expertise in mathematical and computational modeling for biomedical imaging. His group develops and maintains several widely used open-source software packages, including DTITK, Camino and the MISST and NODDI toolboxes. He was an EPSRC Leadership Fellow and co-founder and steering committee member of the European CONNECT consortium. Dr. Alexander has graduated 12 doctoral students, has approximately 300 peer-reviewed publications and has reviewing and/or editorial responsibilities in all the top medical imaging journals and conferences, including a wide range of neuroscience, medical and general science journals and funding bodies around the world.
