Laura Winchester, BSc(Hons), PhD

Research Fellow at University of Oxford

Location: Oxfordshire United Kingdom

Dr. Laura Winchester is an Alzheimer’s Research UK Fellow with expertise in proteomics, the large-scale study of proteins and their functions. She led the proteomic data collection phase for the multicenter longitudinal study called Tracking Parkinson’s and was the lead author on the recent UK-based blood proteomic biomarker discovery project (MAP2PD-UK). She is interested in the application of large-scale, “multi-omic” analyses to better understand disease variants and therapeutics. This approach involves applying integrative and machine learning methodologies to genomic and proteomic data from cohorts with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and healthy populations to develop new biomarkers and to understand neurodegenerative mechanisms.
