The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) was founded in 2000 with one clear objective: accelerating meaningful therapeutic advances and, ultimately, a cure for Parkinson’s disease (PD). We believe that to find a cure for PD as quickly as possible, our capital needs to push research forward today—we therefore deliberately hold no endowment or excessive reserves. We instead seek to deploy funds raised as quickly and wisely as possible. MJFF raises over $100 million annually. Today, the Foundation has approximately 250 full-time employees. Position Summary:
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Senior Video Producer position.  The Senior Video Producer will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders across the organization and external community spokespeople to create persuasive, relatable and engaging multimedia content across mission-critical calls to action for the Foundation’s robust and dynamic audiences of patients, families, donors and researchers.

Reporting to the Director of Multimedia, the Senior Video Producer will lead the Foundation’s video and multimedia production from end to end. This individual will staff and supervise shoots, manage the post-production workflow and bring a strong editorial and writing background to the creation of videos and other multimedia content that effectively convey the objectives and promise of the Foundation’s scientific programs, patient advocacy and research engagement initiatives to speed a cure for Parkinson’s disease (PD). This is an opportunity for a highly skilled producer who can quickly translate complex topics, distill them for lay audiences and create compelling and elevated multimedia assets with a range of purposes and styles in the Foundation’s brand voice.

The Senior Video Producer manages the conceptualization, development, execution and delivery of a high volume of deadline-driven videos and other forms of content including live action series, animated explainer videos, short documentary films, webinar roll-ins, podcast and social promos, etc. across the Foundation’s digital channels to educate and engage the community and inspire them to get involved.

This role will work closely with and seek input from colleagues in Communications, Marketing, Development, Research, the C-Suite and Board members, as well as research and patient subject matter experts at key stages of the production process. This position will steward talent, including high-profile VIPs and community members by creating an atmosphere of efficiency, discreteness, and professionalism on set.

This position is hybrid-flex, and you will be required to work from the Foundation’s office in New York City at least once a week and more when there are planned shoots. This position is required to travel outside of New York City for filming 5-10% of the year.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders including internal subject matter experts and business owners across the Foundation, external community members, and production vendors to develop a range of multimedia content focused on fundraising, audience growth, engagement, sponsorship, and conversions to various calls to action
  • Content topics and talent should be sourced with a lens to equity, diversity and inclusion, with the goal of making the Foundation’s resources relatable, practical, and engaging for the broadest possible audience of people and families impacted by PD
  • Manage every aspect of pre-production for video and multimedia assets — obtain input from key Foundation stakeholders; develop well-researched outlines, scripts and storyboards; book crews and shoot locations; onboard new-to-Foundation vendors; organize prep calls; develop production schedules, call sheets, etc.
  • Lead production for virtual and in-person shoots — supervise crews and work closely with talent to ensure that multimedia content embodies the required messages and is captured with an eye to the Foundation’s brand voice, project goals and standards of excellence; step into role of off-camera interviewer with ease; take professional photos and behind-the-scenes videos on set for promotion
  • Oversee the post-production and editing process — activate key stakeholders for input and review at project milestone moments; hire and manage editors, producers, animators, audio and color post-houses, etc., as needed and provide them with a clear blueprint for their work; work closely with the project management team to manage asset review and delivery timelines and ensure project is on budget; complete post-production tasks like editing videos and creating graphics on your own if a project calls for it; develop or modify content in response to breaking news or important advancements across the Foundation 
  • Manage digital asset management platforms, MediaSilo and EVO, overseeing daily use and upkeep of the libraries. Tasks include uploading media, organizing assets, curating assets, developing and assigning metadata, onboarding and training new users on best practices, troubleshooting platform issues and performing ongoing audits of digital assets
  • Possess strong editorial skills to be able to write and review scripts and create multimedia assets that turn complex topics into sensitive, compelling and engaging high-quality content

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience in broadcast journalism, multimedia production or marketing/communication; at nonprofit and/or mission-based organizations with a specialization in public health, biology, or life sciences is preferred
  • Relevant track record of managing the entire video production lifecycle from ideation and creation to deployment and promotion
  • Demonstrated success in producing high-quality multimedia content in a range of formats and styles with competing deadlines, working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Superior writing and editorial skills to distill complex concepts into compelling, accessible multimedia storytelling and materials to engage various audiences in our mission
  • Fastidious attention to detail in editing and proofing content
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, DSLR cameras and film and lighting set ups
  • High level of comfort with technology and proficiency working across multiple digital platforms with an integrated marketing and communications team
  • Ability to successfully lead in-person shoots and virtual recordings with a range of experts, including VIP talent and high-profile stakeholders
  • Top-notch production management skills, including proactive and collaborative development of work plans and timelines
  • Team player with strong and effective in person, print, and online communication skills

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
